Dylan Morrison

“My names Dylan Morrison and this is my 1993 Nissan Skyline R33.”

Can you tell us about the journey you’ve been through with it & a rundown of what’s been done?

I bought this car as a NA manual in 2016 as my first car, I knew nothing about cars at this point but I loved everything about skylines. The 33 was the only one I could find that came with a RWC that my parents would let me buy.

As the P plate laws are strict in VIC I only really did aesthetic mods until I was 22 when I got on my fulls. The day I got my full license I pulled the NA motor and got a turbo motor, fully stripped it and went forged internals and a whole refresh along the way. While I was doing the motor swap with my mate Luke at garagemu I found a half cut GTR and picked up a rear end to replace the fibreglass fenders I had moulded onto the car. After welding the genuine GTR quarters on and a lot of custom work from my good friend Sam Crowther we decided the gtst front looked dumb with a gtr rear end so I then started searching marketplace for a GTR front end. I ended up finding all the parts for relatively quick and cheap, driving out of my 5km radius to pick up GTR parts during peak covid time.

All in the matter of 8 months I had a fully built motor and a full genuine GTR body mock up. next up was paint and tune. the car made 300kw on the dyno and I ended up going with a cherry black finish.

How did you interest for cars start?

I was in QLD on a trip and one of my friends had an NA s13 that he picked me up in and it was so low and loud, I pretty much fell in love instantly.

How come you’ve gone for a bag set up over coil?

After the run in tune and the first thousand k’s I wanted it to be the car I always dreamt of. My driveway was super gnarly at the time so I decided to go with a coilover bag setup on an airlift 3p management just to make it more practical, I also did all the arms up front to dial in the fitment. That’s pretty much how the car sits now and i’m super happy with how it looks, every time I park and walk away from it I look back and can’t believe it’s mine.

What else do you do outside of cars?

Other than cars i’m super into scootering and bmxing. I’m a 3x consecutive world best trick champion holder and have been on two wheels since I could walk! I have had multiple signature scooters and my most recent one has a decal of the 33 on it to pay some homage. I really feel like this car is an extension of my personality and I love being able to express myself through another form of “art”.
