My name is Justin and I own a 1991 NA1 Honda NSX, imported from the land of the rising sun and first owner in Australia.

What different cars have you had and how come you’ve gone from those to the nsx?

My first car was a 5th generation 1991 Honda prelude (BB6) vti-r, it was a great entry car as a P plater 11 years ago and had the mighty VTEC. After 4 years of ownership of this I was fortunate enough to move onto my first ‘obtainable’ dream car; 1991 Honda S2000 (AP1). The car was an absolute dream to own and to this day a car I very much regret selling.

After 3 years of ownership and alike many other s2k owners, I moved on to my first turbo car; a 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX (the best evo in my option).

This was probably my most fun car I had owned along with one of my most modified cars. 300kw, full head build, high flowed turbo, bolt ons, etc. after 6 years of ownership, covid happened and prices went up which cause me to sell my beloved evo and move onto my “unobtainable” all time dream car; the NSX.

What’s the goal for the nsx?

Reliability. Main focus is to freshen every bit of OEM part of the vehicle to near new/aftermarket new components as being a 32 year old car, few parts have aged/prone to failure.

Looks. Bringing the car from a stock look to where it is now was not meant to be my first priority, however I had to make my car feel like it was “mine” before I could enjoy it. Widebody is on the table, a matter of when and not if!

Performance. Manual conversion is now in the works, just waiting for that gearbox to pop up and it will happen. As for later future performance mods, a couple of snails.

How difficult was doing the custom tail lights & how did you go about it?

I don’t think I’d like to do them again but at least the knowledge is there if I have to, kind of difficult haha.

Roughly 18 hours of work, trial and error and fitting to completion. My first time doing it however I do have background in electrical so that helps. Purchased a spare set of tail lights, all custom wiring with a laser pre-cut template to pop the LED’s in nice and easy.

Thoughts on the car community at the current moment?

I do enjoy the car community at the moment, I have been involved in it for over 10 years now and have seen cars at different levels of modifications and how the “clean” scene has taken over.

As long as everyone respects other’s builds and their preferences it will remain a great community. Everyone deserves to have their own tastes and their situation determining what they modify/enjoy to drive is for them to decide

Anything else to add?

Even if you think you can’t own your unobtainable dream car, work hard and keep at your goal - it’s achievable!
